This test is necessary for those students who want to take admission in a foreign university and their mother tongue is not English. Through this test, the applicant’s English skill is tested, in which his knowledge of English is seen in all ways like writing, speaking, reading and understanding. Before clearing this test it is important to understand its syllabus. Without knowing the syllabus you cannot clear the test.
There are four parts of this test and here we are giving you complete information about these four parts.
TOEFL Reading Section
In this section of the test the reading ability of the student is tested. In this, passages are given to the student, then the answers related to them are asked.
TOEFL Listening Section
In this section, the applicant is narrated from the classroom or academic lecture and questions are asked based on it. In this, applicants are advised to listen carefully to the audio recording. In each recording questions are asked which have to be answered. The total time allotted for this section is 60-90 minutes. After this section a break of ten minutes is given. After this again the other two sections start.
TOEFL Speaking Section
A total of 20 minutes are given for this section, a total of 6 speaking tasks are given in this section. In this, students have to express their views on a topic. Answers in this section are to be given on the basis of reading and listening tasks.
Keep in mind the timing during the test. Try to answer all your questions within the given time. You can also practice this test on computer before this test. In this section you will be asked a simple question which you will have to answer. Like ‘If you have a friend coming to India from abroad, then in which city of India would you recommend him to spend time. Explain it with example’
TOEFL Writing Section
In this section, students have to write essay on at least two subjects. Only 50 minutes are given for this. It is considered good to score 22 in this section which is 50% of this section. In the first essay, you have to write about 150 to 200 words, in which you are given an academic passage to read and an audio clip of 2 minutes is heard, on the basis of both of these you have to write the essay. You have to write it in 20 minutes. Whereas in the second essay, you are not given anything to read and listen to. You have to write it yourself.

Keep in mind the timing – Timing is of utmost importance in the entire exam as the time allotted for each section is given. Try to finish your work before the scheduled time so that your work done in the remaining time can be checked. Don’t spend too much time on any one question. By doing this, you will miss out on giving time to the questions that come to you.
Solve difficult questions later – There are many such questions which spoil your time, instead of spending more time on such difficult questions, go ahead and solve other questions. Try to solve these difficult questions at the end of the paper
Use breaks properly – After the second section, a 10-minute break is given during which you can use the bathroom. Take a walk somewhere around because sitting in front of the computer for 2 hours continuously will make your eyes tired too. Some can eat or drink water.
Make Notes – In the third and fourth sections all you have to do is listen and read, so you can make notes of important things. If you find something important while listening or reading, you can note it down.
